I was born on October 5th, 1976 in Zagreb where I have finished elementary and high school (MIOC). During high school I have been in the Program for talented students which were funded by City of Zagreb. The best 25 high school students from Zagreb were enrolled in the Program.

            I graduated from School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2001 as top five students of a generation. I was also enrolled in Program for talented students during Medical School (the best 50 students from Zagreb).

During Medical School I was awarded by the Dean for exceptional results. 

I have done my PhD thesis in 2007 with the title ‘Consequences of insulin – like growth factors and its receptors dysfunction in non – small cell lung cancer’.  

Since 2002 I am employed as a research associate at Zagreb Medical School. I have become Assistant Professor at Zagreb Medical School in 2012. I have done my residency in internal medicine from 2003 – 2007 at University Hospital Center Zagreb, and became board certified in 2007 in internal medicine. From 2008 – 2010 I have done my fellowship in respiratory medicine, and became board certified in 2010.

Since 2008 I am working at the Department for Respiratory Diseases ‘Jordanovac’, University Hospital Center Zagreb.

For the last eight years I am member of Zagreb Medical School faculty in Department for internal medicine, and in the last 4 years in Post – Doctoral study at Zagreb Medical School. 

Since 2011, I am Deputy Director of PhD Programme at Zagreb Medical School.

As a part of my scientific and clinical education I spend couple of months at National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, SAD. 

I am investigator in more than ten international, multicenter trials which are at the moment conducted in Department for Respiratory Diseases ‘Jordanovac’, including trials in pulmonary hypertension, COPD, and thoracic oncology. The most important collaboration is between ‘Jordanovac’ and National Cancer Institute, where I am lead associate investigator in clincal trial „A Phase II Study of Neo-Adjuvant Gemcitabine, Cisplatin and Bevacizumab in Stage IIIA (N2) Non-Squamous Cell Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer”.

I have published more than 40 scientific papers in peer – review journals and chapters in books.

I am member of Croatian Medical Chamber, Croatian Thoracic Society, Crotian Respiratory Society, Croatian Society of Cardiology, European Respiratory Society and American Thoracic Society.

I am general secretary of Croatian Thoracic Society, and elected National representative in European Respiratory Society.

From 1992 – 2002 I was member of National Track & Field Team, and participant of 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Since 2002 I am member of Anti – doping commission of Croatian Athletics Federation, and since 2007 member of Therapeutic Use Exemption Commission of Croatian Anti – doping agency.

I am executive vice-president of Track & Field Club Agram.
